Autumn 2018 – Chapters
Durban Chapter is in limbo as we start 2018. Huge thanks to Donovan for all he has done for SAVS and the vegans of Durban during his stay up the coast. We are going to miss you!
With Donovan moving back to Cape Town SAVS is looking for a great team to get the Durban Chapter moving and making waves. If you have what it takes let us know at : firstname.lastname@example.org or call Anna at 071 422 0773.
Great news for vegans in Gauteng – we have a new team to head up the Chapter as Ricardo Marquez will be focusing on his vegan businesses. Ricardo really contributed to the area of Gauteng and we thank him for all that he did and wish him the best in his work ahead.
Colleen Cluett and Gavin Fischer area already in action and looking forward to what is ahead. Here are a few words from them both:
We’re Colleen and Gavin and we’re really excited to be taking over the running of the Gauteng Chapter of SAVS. We’ve been vegan for about 2 years and it has become a really fundamental part of our lives and how we view the world, so it is great to get more involved in the SA Vegan Society.
For all the wonderful things that veganism brings, we know that we all need support in maintaining and renewing a vegan life. This is our main aim for the Chapter, to provide as many resources as possible to help make veganism as enjoyable and fulfilling as possible. To do this, we’ll be sending our own Gauteng specific newsletters, organising events and linking you to other great activities in our area.
We also need your help in making the Chapter as useful and fun a resource as possible. You can suggest an activity, help organise an event, send us a recipe, write an article, draw a picture, sing a song; really anything that you think our members might like.
Whatever your interest, wherever you are on your vegan journey, no matter how much or how little time you have to give, you can be a big part of this Chapter. We’ll also be sending out a survey soon, to get a sense of what people are hoping to get out of the Chapter, so please do fill that in or send us an email if you have any extra thoughts. You can contact us on email@example.com.
We look forward to chatting, meeting and finding many excuses to eat great vegan food together!
SAVS joins more than 70 animal welfare organisations, groups and businesses in supporting the Cape Town Unites For Animals march happening in Cape Town CBD on Saturday 10th March with the aim of highlighting the health, environmental and food security benefits of shifting away from animal-based eating and towards plant-based; the sentient status of non-human animals and the unparallelled & needless suffering of these animal victims stuck in our exploitative systems We need your presence at this peaceful demonstration – please click here for more details, and share with family and friends. More people means bigger impact.
We need your help! We’re looking for 50 people to volunteer as marshals for the event. If you’re ready, willing and able to help make this event a success, please contact Dylan on 073 220 5305 for more information.
Keep an eye on the SAVS – Western Cape Facebook page for more events and opportunities as they happen. If you’re interested in getting involved or volunteering, please contact Dylan at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 073 220 5305.
